Labour team storm to victory in pool tournament

02 October 2007

Files/pool Dewsbury MP Shahid Malik cleaned up as the Labour pool team swept to victory against Dewsbury Socialist Club in the inaugural Robin Cook Memorial Challenge, named in honour of the late Labour MP and Foreign Secretary.

The Labour team, which also included Dewsbury East councillor Eric Firth, took a 4-0 lead before eventually taking the match 6-3 with the MP picking up the man of the match award.

Earlier this year Mr Malik became the only person ever to have successfully defended the Parliamentary pool title and is hot favourite to win the competition for a third time next January.
