Shahid's first commitment is to constituents and since opening a ‘shop front' in the town centre has tripled the amount of casework he undertakes. The office employs five members of staff and is open throughout the week to help and advise local people in any way possible.

Regular advice surgeries and coffee mornings across Dewsbury and Mirfield have meant that Shahid has been able to meet thousands of people and take up issues on their behalf.

Shahid holds monthly surgeries in the Dewsbury ASDA store, Mirfield Library and at the Daisy Hill office.

Shahid's week usually entails working in Westminster between Monday and Thursday and then from the Dewsbury office on Daisy Hill throughout the weekend. Shahid spends as much time as possible getting out and about meeting people whenever he can and is rapidly gaining a reputation for being one of the most approachable MP's around.
